Now THAT looks more like a REAL palette, eh?
What? You, didn't see the one in Volume 1? Take a look.
Well, here we are at the next pair of garden locations - locations 3 and 4. Remember where they are? Of course not; well they are on the south-east side of the house - see here:
The property line (green) on the left is almost due north-south; north is towards your left thumb!
Location 3 – Behind the garage. Formerly a boring 1 in 5
grassy slope) – looking north-west
For a few years after moving to this house in 2000, I labored (and cursed) as I watched my wife struggle with the mower on the steep grassy slope behind the garage. Why do you think I built that bench on top of it? I decided to use the elevation change to my advantage with a 'water-feature' of as a central piece to a flower-bed / rockery area instead.
Late March (2014)
Late April
Mid May
Mid June
Only subtle changes at this time - Snap-dragons gone; wild-flower seedlings emerging there.
Mid July
The rose bush has lost most of its blooms and is barely visible - Summer heat woes! But, a couple of tall, yellow, 'wild-flower daisies' have sprouted and a pink Hydrangea began to bloom.

Mid-August - the 'Alice View'
Mid-September
First day of FALL - back to 'normal' viewing position
Mid-October
The 'pampas' grasses have 'tassled'
Mid November
From first day of frost to first day of snow a few days later
Mid-December
Last month's frost has gone - even a few sunny days
Mid-January (2015)
Tall grasses all trimmed back promote fresh growth in a couple of months time.
Late-February (2015)
Location 4 – Below the ‘once grassy knoll’ – looking north
Though not too noticeable in these photos, there is a 12 foot long series of cascades of water dropping 3 feet into a small pond. The sound of the gurgling water is pleasing - and can be heard from inside the kitchen or from seating on (and below) the deck - at left. I had some goldfish in there a few times, but survival of predators and harsh winters was not their forte! Now, a concrete boy fishes - unaware that he'll catch nothing but a cold.
Late March (2014)
Late April
Mid June
Grasses getting a little bigger - blooms on rose bush dwindling -that's about it
Mid July
A lot of leaf-litter from the drought-affected Birch tree, along with the newly bloomed (white) Rose of Sharon bush add new colors.
Mid-August - the 'Alice View'
Mid-September
Back to 'normal' view - First day of Fall. Some roses re-appearing, but so dry, the hose makes a daily appearance!
Mid-October
No need for the hose - so much rain in early October - but we missed it, enjoying sun in Florida
Mid November
The snow just highlights the grass tassels so well
Mid-December
Getting close to Winter Solstice - and sunny!
Mid-January (2015)
What a difference winter, a filter, and a pair of shears makes!
Late-February (2015)
At least the sky was blue!
